Scotland boss Andy Robinson has already gone on record to say that Visser will be considered for international duty when he qualifies next year.

And although he won’t be available for selection in time for the 2012 RBS 6 Nations campaign a hat-trick against the Italians strengthened his claim for a summer tour berth.

But while Visser won the plaudits the flying Dutchmen was quick to insist it was his Gunners’ teammates – notably Scotland centre Nick de Luca – that deserved the praise following their RaboDirect PRO12 win.

“I think I played a good game,” he said.  “I did very well in defence which is a big focus for me at the moment and picking up the tries is always good obviously.

“I can’t score without all the groundwork that is being put in and I actually didn’t have to beat a single man for any of my tries which is great credit to both centres Nick de Luca and James King that put me in for tries.

“And then obviously the great chip from Harry Leonard put me in for my third but there also needs to be a lot of credit to the forwards because they put a lot of big work in and it shows in the result.”

Elsewhere the Ospreys made light of a host of international absentees to down Munster 19-13 while Ian Madigan upstaged Ireland fly-half Jonathan Sexton as Leinster thrashed a decimated Cardiff Blues side 52-9.

And Leinster boss Joe Schmidt admitted Sexton now has a major rival at No.10.

"Yeah, he's getting there," said Schmidt. "There is a big shadow cast by Jonny and it is good to see Ian coming out of that. There is a full spectrum to what he can deliver.

“He is a good defender, he directed the game pretty well and his passing game is really improving.

“He has got really good balance and is very quick to spot an opportunity and go for it and his kicking game is coming on.

"He still has lots to work on but I think Ian is making really good progress.”

Meanwhile Treviso beat Connacht 15-13 and Ulster ended Scarlets eight-match unbeaten run with a 24-17 win.
