Robinson is looking to add some much-needed experience to his support staff, which already includes the likes of former international Gregor Townsend and Graham Steadman.

The appointment is unlikely to materialise until after the 2012 RBS 6 Nations, but as Robinson embarks on a new World Cup cycle ahead of the 2015 tournament in England experience seems to be the buzz word for the former England boss.

Planning for the future is the key for Robinson, who is set to integrate up-and-coming talent into the Test squad, as he bids to improve his record of two wins in ten RBS 6 Nations matches when the tournament begins against England on February 4.

"I'm searching to see who I can bring in to add to what we're doing as a group,” said Robinson. “I think it's important you don't stand still; it's important that you keep moving forward to keep improving as a group.

"We're working with similar coaches. I think Graham Steadman's done well as has Gregor Townsend and the specialist coaches we've had with us.

"But long term, I'm looking to bring in some extra international experience."

It’s not just his off-field leaders that Robinson is looking to freshen up – the former England and Bath flanker has admitted he will also make a change in his skipper department.

Previously the job has been held by scrum-halves Chris Cusiter, Mike Blair, Rory Lawson and second-row Alastair Kellock, who was captain at the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

However, with none of his four former skippers guaranteed a starting role in February’s Six Nations – Robinson looks set to make a long-term change.
John Barclay, Kelly Brown and Ross Ford are among the names in contention but Robinson is keeping his cards close to his chest.
"I will be looking at selecting a captain,” added Robinson. “It's important to be able to grow that person as a leader.

"If I select a captain I've got to pick him. I fully realise that and it's something I'll be focusing on going through the next four years.

"The decision will be made around a player that is going to be playing in the team and playing well in the team."

"It's important that we get off to a very good start in the England and Wales games, that we're able to win those games.

"That's one of the key focuses for me."
