England coach Street braced for action-packed autumn

Women's head coach Gary Street insists he's relishing England's busiest-ever autumn after confirming a triple-header with world champions New Zealand and two clashes in France.

Street’s side defeated the Black Ferns when the two teams met at Twickenham in 2009 but suffered a heartbreaking 13-10 loss to the same side at last year’s World Cup.

They will have three chances to gain revenge this year though with New Zealand flying over for two Tests at Esher and one at Twickenham following the Barbarians v Australia game.

Prior to the arrival of the Black Ferns, England will cross the Channel to face France - who they defeated 16-3 during last season’s RBS 6 Nations triumph - on the second and fifth of November.

And while Street will barely have time to draw breath during an action-packed five weeks, he believes it will set England up perfectly to defend their crown in 2012.

“This is going to be a huge five weeks for us and will mean great opportunities for younger players while building on the skills of the more experienced members of the squad,” he said.

“France present tough opposition, especially on their home turf.

“And none of us will have forgotten the last time we played New Zealand, when we ran them so close in the final of the World Cup.

“It’s a massive autumn programme and we hope that all our fans will come out to support us.”
