Woodward wary of Scots
19 March 2003, 3:43 pm
England coach Clive Woodward is expecting Scotland to provide a stern test of his team's RBS 6 Nations Championship credentials.

Victory over Scotland at Twickenham will set up a title finale against Ireland, providing the Irish beat winless Wales in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

But Woodward does not expect an easy ride against a Scotland side fresh from their victory over Wales in what was billed as the wooden spoon match.

He said: "It's a huge game for our team. Scotland have nothing to lose. They won their last match and they have an outstanding pack."

Woodward backed his decision to bring back prop forward Jason Leonard, who has not played for five weeks since damaging his hamstring.

Leonard returns with fit-again skipper Martin Johnson, flanker Neil Back, left-wing Ben Cohen and Jason Robinson, who will play on the right wing.

Woodward claimed he was simply "picking the best team".

He maintained he had no reservations about handing Leonard his 101st cap without the benefit of a warm-up appearance.

"I trust all these players implicitly and if he says he is fit then he's fit," said Woodward.

"He's got back quicker than the medical advice said he would and that's a big bonus for us."
