But Flutey takes his place alongside fellow kiwi-born centre Shontayne Hape, while there are also call-ups for Saracens pair Matt Stevens and Mouritz Botha, and Gloucester flyer Charlie Sharples.
Leicester centre Manu Tuilagi, who missed the Aviva Premiership final for his punch on Chris Ashton in the semi-final, is included in Martin Johnson’s squad, as is Tigers Kiwi teammate Thomas Waldrom.
And Flutey, who has had a difficult season with Wasps, is adamant the team has what it takes to make a big impact down in New Zealand.
“I have had a relaxed and enjoyable off-season and my body is in good shape,” said Flutey, who has been capped 13 times by England. “I’m in good nick now.
“You look at how the team has developed over the last couple of seasons and the boys have got a lot more experience.
“It’s good to see a few of the younger lads who were in the side when I came in turning into good leaders and fantastic players.
“You saw that talent come through during the Australian tour and then obviously the Six Nations.
“There’s a lot of confidence within the team. Although we didn’t win the slam and the last game against Ireland was a disappointing result, we’re very confident.
“I’m sure the boys are fit and healthy and ready to take on the world.”
We spoke to Riki Flutey at the launch of O2 Touch, an RFU initiative aiming to get England playing touch rugby. To get involved and to be in with a chance of playing touch at Twickenham visit www.rfu.com/O2touch
