Jones could join the 100 club if he is chosen for the Barbarians clash on June 4

Jones set to benefit from WRU decision

Stephen Jones could write himself into the history books following the WRU's decision to make Wales' clash with the Barbarians a full-cap international.

The Baa-Baas travel to the Millennium Stadium to take on Wales on June 4 and to mark the WRU’s 130th anniversary, caps will be awarded to those involved.

And with Scarlets fly-half Jones stuck on 99 caps, he would equal Gareth Thomas’ record of a century if he is selected, which looks likely with James Hook set to miss the game as he is getting married.

WRU chairman David Pickering said: “We are delighted to announce that Wales will award full caps for this important and historic fixture.

“The game represents the continuation of a proud history of encounters which have featured some amazing rugby down the years.”

This isn’t a new phenomenon for Wales as caps were awarded against the Barbarians in 1990 and 1996, the latter seeing flanker Martyn Williams win the first of his 98.
