But after just four appearances for the North London club, Henson opted to move onto Toulon and has been named in the starting line-up for the Top 14 clash with Stade Francais after recovering from a calf injury.

And, with possibly only four games left if Toulon miss the playoffs, he knows he will have to impress quickly for both club and country.

“If I manage to start the four games for Toulon I’d like to think that Wales would at least try me out in one of those [summer] games,” he said

“I still think I have got a chance for the World Cup.

“I’m on trial a little bit, but I’m not going to put pressure on myself.

“I’m hoping once I play they like what they see and hopefully the contact will be in place.

“I absolutely love it down here. I’m so lucky,” he added: “I’m really excited about playing again.”
