England boss Martin Johnson looks on with forwards coach John Wells as his side were taken to pieces by Ireland
Johnson offers no excuses for 'horrible' performance

England manager Martin Johnson admits everything that could go wrong, did go wrong as their Grand Slam aspirations went up in smoke in the Aviva Stadium.
Ireland set a tempo and intensity that England could not live with as Tommy Bowe and Brian O’Driscoll scored the tries in their 24-8 RBS 6 Nations victory.

Fly-half Jonathan Sexton scored the rest of his side’s points and pulled the strings behind a dominant Ireland pack.

And Johnson maintains his side got exactly what they deserved from an performance in which 33% of the possession they enjoyed ended in an error.

He said: "We're desperately disappointed not to have won the game and the way we lost.

"They outplayed us, we had a horrible first half and did everything we talk about not doing away from home - we compounded errors and they got a couple on us at the breakdown.

"Pressure is the name of the game. We've got a lot of guys doing this for the first time and there were a few errors.

"Ireland are a savvy team, full of pride, and we've got what we've got - a team of good young players.

“Everyone's got a win and a loss in them, you get it right or wrong. We got it all wrong today.

“It was horrible today, our best two attacking moves in the second half ended with us giving the ball straight to them.

"If everyone makes one mistake, that's 15 mistakes and it was that kind of day today.

"We came here to win the game and we've fallen way short. It's just disappointing, we could have been better."
