Andy Robinson has been dealt a late blow after Max Evans was ruled out of Scotland's RBS 6 Nations clash with Italy at Murrayfield.
The Glasgow Warriors winger suffered an ankle strain against England last Sunday and will be replaced by Ospreys’ Nikki Walker and did not recover in time for Saturday’s opening game.

Scotland have lost four out of four so far despite coming into the tournament with high hopes after a November victory over world champions South Africa.

And they will face an Italy side high on confidence after their historic 22-21 win over France in Rome.

Walker started Scotland’s first three Six Nations matches before being dropped for the Twickenham trip in favour of Ulster’s Simon Danielli.

The 29-year-old will have bitter memories of his only other encounter with the Azzurri when he was a second half replacement in Scotland’s first ever home defeat to Italy.

“Nikki has been part of our squad throughout the championship and played in our last Murrayfield international against Ireland,” said head coach Robinson. “This is a golden opportunity for him now to produce a special performance.

“Our medical team have worked tirelessly as ever but Max is not quite right for the rigours of a Test match.

“We wish him a speedy recovery.

“We approach tomorrow with confidence and determined to give the Murrayfield crowd a lot to cheer about.”
