Kidney praises formidable England

Ireland boss Declan Kidney admits England deserve to have the title of champions-elect ahead of their RBS 6 Nations showdown at the Aviva Stadium.
Only an Ireland win combined with a Welsh victory in France together with a 42-point swing could stop England winning  their first Championship in eight years – also won in Dublin.

Ireland though do have a habit of spoiling Red Rose parties having ended their 2001 Grand Slam bid at Lansdowne Road.

And Kidney admits his side will have to be at their best to continue their impressive Six Nations record against Martin Johnson’s men.

"England have taken every opportunity that has come their way," said Kidney.

"In a competition where there isn't bonus points it's possible that four wins will see them through.

"They are typically English. When they are going well they are strong up front and they have a strong scrum and lineout, their maul is difficult to stop and they have good back three runners.

"They have a lot of lads who are in this situation for the first time and you could say that was inexperience.

"But they will also be able to go out and play with freedom because there is no baggage. The points difference they have will help them to relax.

"We deserve a good performance, especially at the new stadium and if we perform well we will get the result we want.”
