Kelly Brown could yet boost Andy Robinson's injury-hit Scotland side by recovering from concussion to face Italy in Saturday's RBS 6 Nations crunch clash.

The Saracens back row was stretchered from the Twickenham turf on Sunday after colliding with Bath powerhouse Matt Banahan in the 22-16 defeat to England.

Robinson has concerns over 11 of the side who were beaten for the fourth time in this year’s competition at the weekend.

Moray Low (arm), Richie Gray (neck), Alastair Kellock (foot), Nathan Hines (knee), John Barclay (hand) and Richie Vernon (calf), Max Evans (knee and ankle), Joe Ansbro (calf), Simon Danielli (neck), Dan Parks (knee) and Chris Paterson (shoulder) are all on the treatment table.

But after describing those injuries as routine “bumps and bruises” Scotland doctor James Robson admitted Brown was not yet out of Saturday’s wooden spoon decider.

“Kelly was concussed but is in good fettle today and is beginning the first stages of the return-to-play protocol,” he said.
