Jones set to replace injured Mitchell

Wales boss Warren Gatland has told prop Adam Jones to be ready for action after Craig Mitchell was ruled out of the RBS 6 Nations clash with France.
Tighthead Mitchell suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder just 11 minutes into the 19-13 victory over Ireland.

Paul James turned in an impressive performance coming off the bench but Jones is poised to be included in the squad despite playing just 22 minutes for the Ospreys since suffering an elbow injury in January.

And Gatland, who was quick to praise Mitchell’s contribution in Wales’ Six Nations campaign, warned Jones he expects him to be in tip-top condition.

He said: "It looks like he's [Mitchell] dislocated a shoulder so I don't know how long it's going to be.

"It's unfortunate for him, particularly so early in the game. He's had a great campaign and given us that depth we were looking for as cover for Adam Jones.

"His work-rate has been outstanding and I don't think he's had the credit he deserves for how hard he's worked around the field.

"Hopefully Adam has been training and his weight is OK and we'll be able to keep him in the squad.

"He knows if he turns up on Tuesday and he's overweight then I'll turn around and send him home. So hopefully he might be in the sauna.”
