Jenkins hails O'Gara record

Welsh record point scorer Neil Jenkins has warned his side to be wary of veteran Irish fly half Ronan O'Gara ahead of Saturday's RBS 6 Nations clash at the Millennium Stadium.
O’Gara, who is just two short of passing the historic 1000-point barrier in international rugby, was hugely impressive after being recalled to face Scotland last time out.

And if he manages the two points he needs he will join a select club of Jenkins, who is currently Wales’ kicking coach, Diego Dominguez, Jonny Wilkinson and Dan Carter.

And Jenkins, who knows O’Gara well from their time with the British and Irish Lions, is full of respect for the 34-year-old’s achievements in the game.

“We need to be on the ball tomorrow, whether they go for a running or kicking game or a bit of both,” said Jenkins who toured as a player with O’Gara on the 2001 Lions tour.

“What can you say about him? He has done everything. He has been on three Lions tours, he has won more than 100 caps, a Grand Slam, Triple Crowns, Heineken Cups.

“He is a Munster legend, and now he needs just a couple of points for a 1,000.

“I get on well with him. He is a great bloke and a fantastic rugby player.

“He is a legend of the game and a legend of Irish rugby.”
