Hunter: Ford driving England Under-20s to success
7 March 2011, 6:59 pm
By Sportsbeat
Head coach Rob Hunter hailed the impact of fly-half George Ford in guiding England Under-20s to three wins from three so far in the RBS 6 Nations.
The Leicester Tigers teenager – son of England defence coach Mike Ford – scored 27 points in his first two matches against Wales and Italy; as well as creating Jamie Elliott’s decisive try in the 19-8 defeat of France.

Next up are Scotland on Friday and Hunter has urged his troops not to take their foot off the gas.

He said: "The guys have been pretty clinical during our three games and George Ford in particular has played his part in keeping us ticking over in the middle of the park.

“He has the ability to open teams up in indentified areas and that benefits his teammates hugely.

“It’s great to see our lads really buying into what we’re trying to achieve. They seem to enjoy being in the team environment and their performances are reflective of that.

"We were very pleased after the France game – possibly a little bit frustrated with our second half performance, but on the whole we’re happy with what we’ve achieved.

"To have played three and won three is no mean feat, we know that there’s still work to do but the lads work very hard on their analysis after every game to keep improving and the level of intensity they apply in training is to be admired."
