Croft continues comeback while Barkley suffers blow

England flanker Tom Croft's return from injury continued as he made only his second start of the season in Leicester's 15-14 defeat to Saracens.

The British and Irish Lion lasted 65 minutes for the Tigers and is now likely to be back in contention for England duty when the RBS 6 Nations come back around next weekend.

England forwards coach John Wells had earlier on spoken of his delight at having Croft back in the international fold.

"We are delighted to have Tom back in the mix," said Wells."His injury was a long time ago and he is playing his way back into some form and fitness.

"Hopefully, this weekend will be another step in the right direction."

Elsewhere Bath centre Olly Barkley suffered a suspected double fracture of the shin in his side’s 34-22 defeat to Gloucester and will almost certainly miss the rest of the season.

"I'm sure he's going to out for a few months, unfortunately," Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld told BBC Radio Bristol. "It's a cruel blow especially at this end of the season."
