Webster back to give Robinson and Edinburgh a boost
Webster on road to recovery

Edinburgh's woes increased on Friday night when their losing sequence extended to seven matches but there was a chink of light for Scotland boss Andy Robinson with the return of winger Simon Webster.
After nearly 18 months on the sidelines with an Achilles problem, Webster returned in December to play Castres only to suffer concussion in January’s Heineken Cup match against Cardiff Blues.

It was against the same opposition that Webster got 80 minutes under his belt on Friday night in the Gunners’ 16-11 reverse.

And although Webster was delighted just to be back in the Edinburgh set-up after his injury hell, he is only thinking about getting game time before he can contemplate returning to the Scotland ranks.

He said: “I’d like to think that I’m in a better position to play well than I was even two months ago when I first became available for selection.

“But I’m not thinking far ahead. I’m not thinking about the World Cup. I know it's a cliché, but a week is such a long time in sport.

“I’m really just trying to link the weeks together and get some decent game time. The focus for me now is to make sure that when I play I actually play well. I’m not thinking about anything beyond that.

“I’ve reached a huge milestone. Since that Castres game away I really haven’t missed a training session or a weights session.

“I’ve been available for every game and that’s been a huge part of the process. Craig Joiner used to say that the best way to get fit is to keep fit, and that’s my mindset at the moment.”
