Wells warns against complacency

England forwards coach John Wells has warned his players Scotland will be far from pushovers at Twickenham.
After downing Wales, Italy and France, victory against the Auld Enemy leaves Martin Johnson’s men just needing a win against Ireland in their final game for the Grand Slam, their first since 2003.

Scotland have endured a torrid time in this year’s Six Nations, losing all three of their games including an embarrassing 24-6 loss to Wales at Murrayfield.

But before the tournament got underway, Andy Robinson’s men had won five out of six Tests, including a 2-0 series in Argentina and a 21-17 victory over South Africa, and it is these results Wells points to as he urges England to not take their foot off the pedal.

“All we are thinking about is trying to give a good account of ourselves against Scotland,” he said.

“There is no complacency in the camp. Everyone knows what Scotland are capable of. They beat Argentina twice away last summer and South Africa in the autumn.

“While they have had a mixed campaign they are more than capable of coming to Twickenham and giving a good account of themselves.

“We are preparing hard. I'd hate to think we might undo all the good work we have done because we are not spot on.”
