A calf injury looks set to rule prop Andrew Sheridan out of the rest of this year's Six Nations
England's Sheridan Six Nations blow

By Charlie Talbot-Smith
England's Grand Slam chances suffered a dent when it was revealed that prop Andrew Sheridan is likely to miss the rest of the RBS 6 Nations Championship with a calf injury.
Sheridan, 31, was replaced by Alex Corbisiero before half-time during England’s 17-9 win over France last weekend and had previously missed the Italy game with a back injury.

The Sale prop missed the whole of last year’s Six Nations and with only two games to go in this year’s championships England will hope that replacement Corbisiero can continue his fine form in his place.

It is not all bad news on the injury front however as Martin Johnson revealed that in-form fly half Toby Flood’s achilles problem is not as serious as first feared.

"Sheridan has a grade two tear, so it is not good. I think he is probably out of the championship. I am hearing it is two to four weeks,” said Johnson.

"He is probably out of the championship unless there is some huge improvement very quickly.

"Flood is okay. He has a bit of Achilles tendon soreness. We think he will be fine (to play Scotland) but we will be very cautious with him this week."
