French rugby prop Pieter De Villiers will not be punished for failing a dope test, the French Rugby Federation (FFR) has announced.
The decision was taken by the body's disciplinary committee which ruled that the random test did not comply with French legal safeguards which say that such a test must be carried out under the auspices of the French Sports Ministry to be valid.
"Since no such request was made, no sanction can be pronounced with regard to the player Pieter De Villiers," said the FFR statement.
De Villiers had missed France's opening two matches of the RBS 6 Nations tournament after the result of the test was confirmed.
