Robinson: we need to put Ireland under pressure

Scotland head coach Andy Robinson is desperate for his side to right the wrongs of their Wales defeat when they take on Ireland in the RBS 6 Nations.
Robinson watched his side fall to an insipid 24-6 defeat at Murrayfield a fortnight ago and has called on his players to get on the front foot from the off this time around.

“We've got to still play," said Robinson. "A key element for us is not to sit back and just kick the ball.

"What's important is that we go out and attack the opposition and put them under pressure.

"It's very easy having made the number of errors that we have to suddenly go into yourself a little bit but we've got to be able to play through this, have better accuracy and get the balance of our tactical kicking game."

Robinson wants his side to not only show more intent with ball in hand but has also challenged his players to defend aggressively when not in possession.

"The other aspect for me is getting off the line and defending. We gave Wales too much respect in the way we defended against them in the first 20 minutes,” he said.

"We have a lot of respect for this Irish team but we've got to get off the line and put them on the floor."
