Redpath urges Scotland to wise-up
4 March 2003, 8:35 pm
Scotland captain Bryan Redpath has urged his side to get "street-wise" in order to resurrect their RBS 6 Nations hopes.
The Scots have lost their opening games against Ireland and France and face fellow strugglers Wales at Murrayfield on Saturday.

But the Sale Sharks scrum-half believes Ian McGeechan's side can win at the weekend, if they wise-up to the game's darker arts.

Redpath said: "You have to push the laws to the limit to get something out of the game.

"The French were very streetwise against us, with some of their driving mauls and holding our players.

"They certainly held me down twice after I had passed the ball and those are the little things you have to be aware of.

Redpath admits the Welsh game represents one of the most intense he has ever faced in his international career.

He said: "Due to our last two results and the committed performance Wales put in against England, this is one of the most high-pressured games I've had with Scotland.

"It doesn't frighten me, but we have to be aware of their passion, match it, and take the challenge on."
