Marc Lievremont has been dealt a blow ahead of France's RBS 6 Nations showdown with England after in-form Maxime Medard was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

The Toulouse man who has scored two tries in the tournament to date was set to line up at full-back against England but will instead be replaced by club mate Clement Poitrenaud.

Medard suffered the injury in training on Monday with the French star himself declaring he was 99% likely to play.

The 24-year-old has been in scintillating form this season with 18 tries to his name including three in three games for Les Bleus.

Brive winger Alexis Palisson, who featured in four of France’s five matches in last year’s Grand Slam, comes on to the bench to replace Poitrenaud.

Meanwhile Lievremont is confident Yannick Jauzion will be fit for Le Crunch despite the veteran centre missing training today.
