Wales winger Morgan Stoddart has already shrugged off the challenge of a broken hand to play in the 2011 RBS 6 Nations so he is not daunted by the return of Leigh Halfpenny to full fitness.
Stoddart marked his Six Nations debut against England – four years after making his first international start – with a try but also fractured his hand in the 26-19 defeat.

But that did not stop him returning to action in the victory over Scotland and now he has got a starting berth the 26-year-old is not prepared to let it go without a fight.

“Leigh’s a quality player who has played well for Wales in the past," said Stoddart. “With him coming back, they may pick him – we’ll have to wait and see.

“Obviously, I was gutted to be out for so long, but I never thought that was it in terms of my international career.

“I just had to stay positive during the tough times."

Speaking about his broken hand, he added: “I can’t remember how it happened. It was some time during the second half against England.

“I didn’t notice it at the time, what with being involved in the game and being caught up in everything that was going on.

“As the week went on, I knew I’d be okay to play against Scotland as long as I took painkillers and strapped it up.

“It’s still cracked. But I can use it.”
