The Welsh bounced back from their opening-day defeat against Italy to restore some pride with a battling performance against England, going down 26-9 at the Millennium Stadium.

Following two straight record defeats and a failure to score a single try against Ireland and France, Scotland know they need a vastly-improved display against the Welsh if they are to pick up their first points and stave off the threat of finishing with the wooden spoon.

Redpath believes Scotland can learn from the way Wales shrugged aside their Rome defeat to threaten England's Grand Slam charge.

He said: "They mixed it up well with England and got a lot of guts in there.

"We're going to have to show some of the attributes Wales had against England to even compete.

"It is a massive game now. They're always big games anyway but after the last two results it's huge. We've let ourselves down in some aspects of the games - not through want of trying but in the execution of a lot of things - and it's difficult to even win a game if you can't get that right."
