Blair earned his 68th cap by springing off the bench but there was little he could do to stem the Welsh tide as Warren Gatland’s wounded men ran in two tries through Shane Williams and picked up 14 points from James Hook’s boot.

And the 29-year-old Edinburgh scrum-half insists Robinson will leave no stone unturned when he bids to get Scotland back on track to face Ireland in two weeks time.

“There will be no hiding place when Andy goes through the tape,” said Blair.

“Everyone is accountable for what they do and everybody will put their hands up and say ‘we could have done a little bit more’ from an unacceptable performance which has to be corrected for the Irish game.

“Ireland will have a point to prove after we beat them last time.

“But we do have an extra week between games and know that the Irish would see what happened at the breakdown in preparing to stop it happening again.

“They are going to do exactly the same in trying to mess us up as effectively as the Welsh did.

“It was like two years ago in this fixture with incredible Welsh physicality.

“The main difference between us was the intensity and ferocity they showed in putting a lot of pressure on; when we had to bundle more players into breakdowns it had a knock-on effect.”
