Kidney promises to keep faith in attacking game

Ireland head coach Declan Kidney has called on his side to keep trusting their attacking instincts, despite falling to a heartbreaking 25-22 defeat to RBS 6 Nations Champions France on Sunday.
The Irish scored three tries to France’s one but indiscipline cost them dear as Morgan Parra and Dmitri Yachvili kicked Les Bleus to victory.

But Kidney is not planning a squad overhaul or a tactical rethink for their remaining three games, instead he wants his side to drop the penalty count and continue to pursue their attacking game plan.

“There's no point crawling away now and trying to play a damage limitation game,” said the Ireland coach.

“We need to keep playing this way and get used to doing it at Test level. It is the right way forward for us.

“The feeling is that game was an opportunity lost. We had too many turnovers. We'll have to look again at the penalties to see which ones were under our control.

"We won the try count 3-1 but still lost the match so we'll have to look again at the penalties to see which ones were under our control.

“An improved performance means you're not in the doldrums, but at the same time we want to win.”
