Underdog status will suit us: Jones

Returning Wales No. 8 Ryan Jones has urged his teammates to use Scotland's favourites tags to their favour at Murrayfield.
After the Principality’s disappointing defeat in the first round of RBS 6 Nations fixtures last Friday – their eighth successive winless game – Wales will start as the bookies’ underdogs at Murrayfield.

Having been stripped of the captaincy – in favour of hooker Matthew Rees – in the autumn, Jones returns to the starting line-up in Scotland in place of the injured Andy Powell.

But while accepting that the home side will be a big threat Jones believes expectation on the home side’s shoulders might just play into their hands.

“Scotland play a very complete game,” he said.

“They are not afraid to chuck the ball around and we can’t afford to concede yards.

“For once they do get over the gain line they are very good at keeping the ball and it becomes very difficult to defend.

“They are certainly a team on the up.

“But we have got to thrive on that. We’ve got to make sure we are bold and brave.

“We’ve got to be more clinical and take opportunities when they come.”
