Lievremont wary of Ireland backlash

France coach Marc Lievremont won't underestimate the challenge posed by Ireland in their RBS 6 Nations match despite the teams heading into the match in contrasting form.
Ireland needed a late Ronan O’Gara drop goal to avoid a first ever Six Nations defeat to Italy while France racked up four tries against Scotland.

But Lievremont expects a vastly improved Irish performance for their trip to the Aviva Stadium.

He said: “Then we had to consider Ireland’s style, for there will be more kicking and more lineouts. Ireland has a more direct game. It is necessary for us to have more (lineout) options.

“Ireland is the team of the tournament who had the most difficulties coming to the heart of the matter, and one can expect an improvement on Sunday.

“One can also expect some of their senior players to return. I think missing some of those players penalised them in Italy.

“But the context is favourable for them. Even if they were inaccurate they have managed to create opportunities and to  beat an improving team (Italy). It will be something else entirely this weekend.

“I think Damien is better physically and mentally than he was in November. I have always said he can play in many positions and I liked his performance at the back.

“We have taken the option of two athletic centres and a very dynamic back three.

“Dimitri gave us serenity and fluidity. He is in very good form, but Morgan had a very good match against the Scots despite some errors.”
