Kellock not dwelling on negatives

Scotland captain Alastair Kellock urged his troops to focus on the positives from their 34-21 defeat reigning champions France going into the remainder of their RBS 6 Nations campaign.
Andy Robinson’s men ran in three tries in the Stade de France – as many as they managed in the entire 2010 RBS 6 Nations – but were ultimately left empty handed as the French capitalised on turnovers to ruthless effect.

And while Kellock, who bagged his first international try, admits there is plenty of room for improvement ahead of next week’s clash with Wales, he says there’s no reason to be too despondent about their performance.

He said: “There were positives, our effort was absolutely outstanding but unfortunately ultimately we won't get any points for our efforts.

“We scored good tries but we can't give the ball away - especially when the French are attacking like that, some of the things they did were outstanding.

“It's the first game of the Championship, we can't focus on it too much, we can't let it affect the rest of our Six Nations.

“With the ball we were looking very good, some of our strike runners worked incredibly hard to get in the game but then we'd force an offload or lose a scrum, or something would go against us and they'd have the ball and they were extremely clinical.

“We've got to take big strides forwards so that we can win next week.”
