The clash in Edinburgh on March 8 could be the wooden spoon decider with both sides yet to register a victory after Wales lost 26-9 in Cardiff on Saturday and Scotland were beaten in France.

But Northampton second row stalwart Williams knows if Wales are to become a force again they have to produce the commitment and passion they showed against Clive Woodward's men on a regular basis.

"Every time you step on the rugby field you have got to be able to come off it and be able to look yourself in the eye," said Williams.

"The whole atmosphere has got to come from within the squad. It does with any successful team.

"Everyone spent some time alone after Italy to go through it and it took us a while to pick ourselves up.

"You find whatever makes you tick and you have to put it down to one of those days. We just sorted ourselves out - that's the bottom line.

"We're disappointed because we felt we could have scored a couple of tries against England and we gave them a couple of soft ones. But there is a gulf between the two teams, no denying that. They are one of the best sides in the world."
