Italy are still riding on the crest of a wave following their 30-22 victory over Wales, but Saturday's RBS 6 Nations match with Ireland will be a far sterner test for John Kirwan's side.
The Wales match was only the second win in 6 Nations history for the Italians who had been on a run of 14 consecutive defeats in the northern hemisphere's premier tournament.
Unsurprisingly then, Kirwan has named an unchanged side to face the Irish with the only switch coming on the bench where Martin Leandro Castrogiovanni replaces Salvatore Perugini who pulled a thigh muscle after being on the pitch for just 30 seconds against the Welsh.
However, Ireland's thrilling 36-6 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield confirmed the feeling of many that they are potential title challengers this year.
David Humphreys, who posted 26 points, retains his place at stand-off with Ronan O'Gara still injured.
The only new face in the starting line-up is Geordan Murphy whose spectacular try as a replacement against the Scots gives him the nod over Shane Horgan.
However, if full-back Girvan Dempsey does not pass a fitness test then Murphy may take the number 15 jersey with John Kelly filling in on the wing.
Starting on the bench is centre Rob Henderson who scored a career-highlight hat-trick of tries when Ireland visited the Stadio Flaminio two years ago.
Ireland's star centre Brian O'Driscoll admitted he was impressed with Italy's development.
He said: "They seem to be much better drilled defensively, a lot stronger and they seem to know what they want out of their defence."
