Boss Eric Ellwood (R) predicts John Muldoon (R) will bounce back stronger
Muldoon's international chances dealt a blow

Ireland back-row John Muldoon's dreams of forcing his way into international boss Declan Kidney's RBS 6 Nations plans are in tatters after it was confirmed the 28-year-old broke his arm against Harlequins.
Muldoon picked up the injury in the closing stages of Friday night’s Amlin Challenge Cup defeat at the hands of Quins and the Connacht skipper is not expected back until mid January.

The setback comes as a bitter blow for Muldoon having not been long back from a similar injury – a fractured bone in the same arm – sustained in Ireland’s clash with New Zealand in June.

That injury marred Muldoon’s third appearance in full Irish colours and saw him out of competitive action until October.

And after hearing the news of Muldoon’s diagnosis Connacht coach Eric Ellwood was quick to offer some words of encouragement.

"It's a big blow for John,” said Ellwood – whose side went down 15-9 to Quins thanks to five penalties from Kiwi fly-half Nick Evans.

“He is not long back from a similar injury. But he is a great pro and he will work extremely hard to get back as soon as possible and the picture should be a lot more clear after the scan.”
