Ireland back-rower fumes at under-par Munster

Ireland back-rower Denis Leamy admitted his Munster side only had themselves to blame after their Heineken Cup qualification hopes were dealt a severe blow by the Ospreys.
The Welsh region’s pack was the difference between the two sides as Dan Biggar kicked 14 points to earn the Ospreys the 19-15 win which moved them just a point shy of their opponents in Pool Three.

Mike Phillips crossed for the Ospreys while Munster prop Tony Buckley and Ireland centre Keith Earls were both on the scoresheet in their losing cause.

In the corresponding fixture a week previously the Irish region came out on top 22-16 and Leamy – who will be looking to be part of Ireland's RBS 6 Nations campaign having played in three of their four autumn clashes – was less than impressed with the turnaround in fortunes.

“From the off, our scrum was definitely second best,” said Leamy – whose side sit second in Pool Three, two points shy of leaders Toulon. “It’s a huge area in rugby union and it was one area we fell down in.

“We can have no complaints. I think the ref could see a lot and he took a lot of decisions against us and it hurt us badly.

“Everyone will look at the frontrow but we’ve got to take this on as a forward pack, look at ourselves and be a lot better than we were today. If you went through our dressingroom, there’s fellas just absolutely gutted in there.”
