Lee Mears
Lee Mears toured South Africa with the 2009 British & Irish Lions
Mears targeting 2011 RBS 6 Nations

England hooker Lee Mears revealed that possible selection for the 2011 World Cup spurred him onto a faster than expected recovery from his recent arm injury.
Mears has started Bath’s last three games, losses against Saracens and Wasps twice in the Premiership and LV= Cup respectively, after tearing his bicep in late September.

After expecting to be out until the New Year, the 2009 British & Irish Lion is hoping to take advantage of his quick recovery and figure in England boss Martin Johnson’s RBS 6Nations plans

He said: “I was involved in the 2007 World Cup so I would love to say I have been in two World Cups on my CV.

“It definitely helped me in my recovery. It is always in the back of your mind when you are doing the physio.

“You always get injuries in rugby and this is the worst one I have ever had but at least I have the chance to put my hand up before the start of the Six Nations.”

“I am conscious I am back very early from my injury so I don’t want to rush anything.

“I am taking it steady and hopefully I will be putting pressure on Pieter Dixon pretty soon.”
