James vows to grab second chance

Flying winger Tom James is keen to wipe the slate clean after a dramatic return to the Welsh line-up against the All Blacks this weekend.
James is no stranger to controversy having fallen out with boss Warren Gatland on more than one occasion in his fledgling international career.

Most recently the 23-year-old stormed out of the Welsh camp ahead of this year’s 2010 RBS 6 Nations encounter against Italy.

His call-up is the first time he has been involved since that incident which many thought would prematurely end his international career leaving him relieved he could get a second change.

“It is like making my debut for Wales again and I can’t wait,” said James.

“When I was told I was in the starting line-up I was shaking like a leaf.
“I’ve just got to push on now and take the chance I have been given.

“I prefer the left wing but if I had to play on the right of course I would play there.

James hasn’t played for his country since their 30-17 defeat against England at Twickenham earlier this year in the 2010 RBS 6 Nations.

He apologised for storming out of the camp after being overlooked for teenager Tom Prydie but faces a second baptism of fire against the All Blacks on Saturday.

James said: “New Zealand are probably the best team in the world and they have some outstanding players but I’ll give 110 per cent.”
