Jones promises no repeat of Fiji embarrassment

Fly-half Stephen Jones has promised Wales fans there will be no replica of the Fiji debacle when New Zealand are the visitors to the Millennium Stadium this weekend.
The Lions No10 was part of the team which could only draw with Fiji last Friday night after skipper Ryan Jones conceded a last-minute penalty.

The all-conquering All Blacks are Wales’ final autumn opponents and Jones insists the squad are confident they can finish the series on a high.

“We have been open and honest with ourselves, that’s the way it is,” said Jones. “We have looked at reasons why we didn’t perform to the standard we would have liked.

“We will try and address those issues and we have to make sure we are a lot better on Saturday.

“We have belief in our ability. When you don’t perform as a team there will always be criticism and that is the responsibility you have when you play international rugby.

“We are fully aware that when we put on that jersey it is a massive responsibility, and when you don’t perform the public are entitled to criticise us.

“Obviously we were disappointed with our performance. We know we can play a lot better than that.”
