Injuries hit Ireland camp

Team manager Paul McNaughton revealed Ireland's preparations for the clash with Argentina have been hampered because of injuries to a number of first-choice players.
Declan Kidney’s men face Los Pumas on Sunday in their final autumn international after defeats against South Africa and New Zealand, either side of beating Samoa.

David Wallace, Gordon D’Arcy, Stephen Ferris and Tommy Bowe all sat out of training on Tuesday, while Brian O’Driscoll and Damien Varley only took part in a non-contact session.

Their team announcement has been delayed until Friday and McNaughton insists no players will be named unless they fully prove their fitness.

“David Wallace, Gordon D'Arcy, Stephen Ferris and Tommy Bowe sat out on Tuesday because they have various knocks,” said McNaughton.“Brian O'Driscoll and Damien Varley, have done modified non-contact work.

“We expect Brian to be OK. He got a bruise on his AC joint, but he trained, though it was not a full contact session.

“All of those players are under consideration for selection and we do not anticipate any problem with them.

“We just need more time to think and also the injuries should be clarified by then.

"We would not take a risk on any player's fitness. You cannot send out anyone who is 90% fit and hope for the best."
