Strokosch is expected to be on the treatment table for six weeks and joins fellow back-row Johnnie Beattie – absent with a shoulder injury – in missing out on the autumn internationals.

Robinson is set to get his squad together for a training camp after the weekend’s club fixtures and will decide then whether he will replace Strokosch.

“Obviously we wish Alasdair a speedy recovery and hope he is back playing rugby as soon as possible,” said Robinson.

“We may yet draft another player into the squad for our training camp in St Andrews and we will discuss that after the matches this weekend.”
