Brad Barritt hopes to have caught the eye of England boss Martin Johnson
Barritt hungry for more

Brad Barritt dipped his toe in international rugby this summer - but is convinced he can make a big splash in England's crucial autumn fixtures.
The Saracens centre, who was born in Durban but qualifies through English grandparents, was rewarded for an impressive season at Vicarage Road with a place in the Churchill Cup-winning squad in America.

That achievement was quickly topped when he received a late call-up to Martin Johnson’s squad as cover for Dominic Waldouck and made his debut in the clash with New Zealand Maori.

Barritt admits the experience with the cream of England’s crop has already made him a better player and after penning a new three-year deal with Sarries he believes he could be the answer to one of England’s problem positions.

“I’ve tried not to think about the autumn internationals too much as I’ve got a lot of big games with Saracens first,” said Barritt, who has also seen teammates Schalk Brits, Ernst Joubert, Alex Goode and Andy Saull extend their stays in Watford.

“But the taste I had in the summer has made me so hungry for more of it and playing in the autumn internationals at Twickenham with a red rose shirt on would be a dream come true.

“Training with the Saxons and then the full squad has improved me already – being around those guys taught me a lot.

“I believe I’ve shown that with Saracens so far this season and I’ve just got to keep doing that over the coming weeks.

“And having the security of my new contract has given me a huge confidence boost. The club are building something special here and it was an easy decision to sign the new deal.

“In the past the club has chopped and changed year on year but that’s not going to happen anymore.

“There are exciting times ahead for all of us and I want to be part of that and helping the club win trophies.

“If I can do that then by playing good rugby I’m sure I will get my chance with England.”
