Ryan Lamb
Lamb's boot helped steer Irish to victory
Booth demanding more than ugly wins

London Irish head coach Toby Booth admits his side can still improve after his table-toppers laboured to an "ugly" 40-24 victory over struggling Leeds Carnegie.
England prospect Ryan Lamb kicked 18 points in the scrappy bonus-point triumph, which sends the Exiles two points clear of Northampton at the top of the table.

Irish have now won four games from five without setting the Aviva Premiership alight and Booth commended his side for their determination.

But despite making such a promising start to the season, the Exiles boss is now challenging his players to start putting in the performances that justify their tag as league-leaders.

“We won ugly and we will take that,” said Booth. "It was a very slow start without question and we felt our way into the game but I was confident that over a full 80 minutes we would be successful.

"It was a workmanlike performance with no glitz or glamour and we are satisfied but not happy with our overall performance.

"If it was a school report after the first quarter I would describe it as very good. However we haven't played fantastically and there is much to improve."
