Danielle Waterman was one of England's standout performers during the World Cup
Waterman: six appeal will cure World Cup blues

Danielle Waterman insists there will be no World Cup hangover when the England women's team go looking for their sixth consecutive RBS 6 Nations title this winter.
Waterman was part of the England team that went down to a 13-10 World Cup defeat on home soil in August – losing for the third consecutive time in the final to New Zealand.

The 25-year-old has 27 tries to show from her 40 Test appearances and hit the headlines during the World Cup with a two-try performance against USA in the group stages.

But while admitting falling at the final hurdle hit the squad hard Waterman is adamant the side will be back to their old selves in February.

“Losing out to New Zealand was obviously really disappointing,” said Waterman – who is one of 21 elite athletes who are involved in the Sporting Champions scheme run by Sport England.

“But we have moved on from it now and have learned a lot from it and we will take that into the Six Nations and into our club rugby.

“We need to make sure we look forward now after the World Cup. I think if you consistently look back then it is bad for your game so I’ll keep looking forward.”
