Dowling's injury marred Munster's win over Ospreys

Dowling hit with hip injury

Munster wing Ian Dowling looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up a hip injury in Saturday's 22-10 victory over Ospreys.

Dowling, who has two caps for Ireland, is unlikely to be available for a large portion of the season and is expected to undergo months of rehabilitation.

It is a further blow to Munster’s Magners League campaign with Felix Jones and Denis Fogarty also sustaining injuries against the reigning champions.

Full-back Jones missed most of last season with a career-threatening neck injury but cruciate ligament damage to his left knee could see him ruled out for up to six months.

Hooker Fogarty is expected to be out until the New Year after undergoing an operation on his shoulder injury.

They join Ireland internationals Paul O’Connell and Keith Earls on the long-term injury list for Tony McGahan’s side.
