Standing at 6ft4in and weighing over 16 stone, it is clear to see why many observers are tipping North to follow in the footsteps of Jamie Roberts.
But North admits he still has a long way to go to emulate his hero.
He said: “From my point of view, Jamie Roberts is someone I’ve looked up to and to be compared to him is a massive compliment as far as I'm concerned.
“He’s done it all having played for Wales and the British Lions, so there really isn’t many better players out there.
“But I’ll mostly be playing on the wing this year I think as it’ll give me opportunity to get myself into the mix in the Magners League. I’d definitely like to play some games in the centre at some point, but really I just like being on the pitch.
“Growing up I’ve always admired the physicality Roberts shows, but I’ve also always really loved watching and learning from Shane Williams. He’s got great speed and amazing footwork and I’d love to be able to play like him.”
Like Roberts, who shot to fame off a two-try display against Glasgow early in his career, North has become a name to watch after one blistering performance.
But the starlet is refusing to get ahead of himself and says he is only interested in establishing himself in the Llanelli side.
“I was very happy with the way things have started this year,” he added.
“It was great to get two tries. I think anybody my age would take that. I remember the crowd being ridiculously loud.
“It was daunting to walk out in that environment, but I suppose that’s something you learn with experience.
“But I got loads of support from the guys. Everyone was coming up to me telling me I was good enough to play at this level and how I should take it all in my stride.
“Fingers crossed I’ll get more opportunities as the season progresses and that I take my opportunities when I get them.
“If the opportunity to represent Wales came about I’d obviously be happy to step up to the mark. But again, it’s not something I have even thought about as I’m concerned in establishing myself in the Magners League, getting on the team sheet week in week out and scoring some tries.
“I’ve always said that I’d rather under promise and over achieve.”
