Lineen hits out at side's lack of fight

Glasgow coach Sean Lineen admitted his side had been bullied out of the points in the first 40 minutes of their 23-11 loss to Newport Gwent Dragons.
The Warriors trailed 23-3 at half-time after seeing Robin Sowden-Taylor and Aled Brew touch down – but improved in the second-half and got Richie Gray in to score following a great break from Richie Vernon.

Lineen made a host of changes at the interval but failed to add to their opening league win – leaving Lineen seething at his side’s lack of fight.

“Against a fairly average Dragons team, these guys didn’t front up in the first half,” he said. “We just got bullied again.

“It was an appalling first half. We got bullied up front, there was no direction. We were too slow to clear the ball and no one really wanted the ball.

“We knew the first 20 minutes would be really important but there was no spark there.

“There are no excuses, absolutely none. The lads are better than that, a lot better than that. There were a lot of youngsters out there and they didn’t front up.

“We brought a few guys on and there was a bit more venom up front, but any time we got momentum, something would happen.”
