Ross Rennie
Ross Rennie in action for Scotland against Ireland
Rennie admits fitness takes priority

Edinburgh flanker Ross Rennie is desperate to return to the Scotland squad this autumn - but admits his international ambitions must play second fiddle to his fitness fight.
The 24-year-old will be limited to just one game every two weeks followed by a stringent programme of rest and recuperation as he continues his recovery from reconstructive surgery on his knee.

Rennie, who made his Test debut against Ireland during the 2008 RBS 6 Nations, will make his first league start in almost five months against Munster on Friday night.

And despite still harboring ambitions to pull on the Scotland jersey once more, Rennie insists he must first pay back his employers.

“I want Edinburgh to be at the top of the league and, of course, I want to play for Scotland
again,” said Rennie.

“But people ask me about Scotland quite a lot and I find that a bit hard because that's not the focus right now.

“I'm just really looking forward to playing for Edinburgh again and doing the best I can to help the team win games.

“I played against London Irish [in pre-season] but it's been a while since the last league game.

“Of course you want to play all the time, but the way the season is now, no-one is likely to play every week so the idea that I might have to miss some games doesn't really make me any different to anyone else.

“I've just got to appreciate the way they're looking after me, but it is frustrating that I've not been able to go as freely as I did.”
