Sheridan tipped to return better than ever

England loosehead Andrew Sheridan will be back to his destructive best when he returns to action says his mentor Phil Keith-Roach.
Keith-Roach, scrum coach to the England’s 2003 World Cup winners, has coached Sheridan since he was a teenager at Dulwich College and has helped mould him into one of the world’s most fearsome props.

It is that reputation that saw him included in Martin Johnson’s EPS squad despite being out of action since last October for club and country.

But with his shoulder problems now close to being a thing of the past, Keith-Roach predicts Sheridan will be better than ever once he returns.

He said: “It’s great news that Martin Johnson has picked Andrew because I believe we are going to see a new and improved player.

“He’s used his time out injured really well. The left shoulder obviously needed surgery but he spoke with his surgeon and he soon had his right one sorted out as well – he’s effectively got two new shoulders.

“He’s also had a good rest and a steady period of rehabilitation and not rushed anything to comeback too quickly.

“It really hurt him not being able to help Sale out on the pitch when they were going through a tough time but he’s been patient and that’s going to be great for the club.

“He’s now involved in his first full pre-season and fully fit for the first time for a long time and that’s also going to really help.

“It would have been insane to risk him at the end of last season and both Sale and England are going to benefit this season.”
