Ben Youngs
Ben Youngs has installed himself as England's first-choice No.9
Wigglesworth hails Youngs impact

Richard Wigglesworth admits England rival Ben Youngs has stolen a march on the rest of the nation's scrum-halves after a series of electric displays in Australia and New Zealand.
The 20-year-old breathed new life into the Red Rose tour of the Southern Hemisphere with a scintillating try-scoring display in England’s 21-20 win over the Aussies.

Wigglesworth, who is set to join Northampton from Sale this summer, started England’s midweek games against the Australian Barbarians but couldn’t outs Youngs from the Test spot.

And with Danny Care losing his first-choice status to the Leicester Tigers youngster, Wigglesworth admits he has his work cut out to earn a starting place before next year’s World Cup.

“You have to give everything you have got and we are playing catch-up to Youngs,” said Wigglesworth.

“Fair play to him, he was outstanding. Even if you take away the try the rest of his game was really impressive. He has certainly set the bar very high.

“There is a lot of competition in the country at scrum-half and that competition breeds good performances.

“When I got into the squad I was asked whether I was worried about the depth in the position and I said I wasn’t because there were lots of young guys coming through.

“I got laughed at and now I have been proved right. It is one of the strongest positions we have in the country.”
