Scarlets veteran Jones was tipped to recover from his thumb injury in time for the second Test but head coach Warren Gatland opted to hand 20-year-old Biggar a sixth cap in Hamilton.
And Biggar, who replaced Jones during last weekend’s defeat, has vowed to hold his nerve when he faces up to the Crusaders star.
“He’s not a bad player to test yourself against,” Biggar said of Carter, who has been past fit to start after recovering from a calf injury.
“But, with due respect to him, it won’t be a daunting prospect for me coming up against him.
“To be on the pitch with someone as good as him is going to be a privilege.
“It will be pretty special and really exciting and I’d like to think I won’t go into my shell and can really express myself out there.
“This will be the biggest challenge of my career to date, but I’m just really looking forward to getting out there.”
