Scotland climb to seventh in world rankings

Scottish rugby had a double reason to celebrate this week as they jumped up to seventh in the IRB world rankings hours after a 13-9 win in Mar del Plata secured their first Test series win in Argentina
.Andy Robinson’s side now sit above the recently defeated Argentina and RBS 6 Nations rivals Wales as they equalled their highest ever place in the rankings since they were established.

But Scotland vice captain Rory Lawson has urged his side to not get carried away and instead use this as a platform for future success.

The scrum-half said: “I think this is obviously a hugely positive thing and is a sign of the direction we are hoping to be moving in.

“I guess the key thing is to keep building on that and setting our targets higher than where we are.”
