Ford ready to step things up
Ford expecting backlash in second Test

Scotland hooker Ross Ford is adamant the experienced Argentina pack will be out to make amends after failing to roll over the Scots in the first Test.
Edinburgh front row Ford – who will win his 40th cap in the second Test against the Pumas in Mar Del Plata – played a key role as Scotland stood toe-to-toe with their hosts in Tucuman, eventually prevailing 24-16.

But the 26-year old insists Argentina – whose defeat last Saturday was their first to a touring party in Tucuman – will be desperate to level the two-Test series and the Scottish squad have been preparing themselves for a tougher encounter.

“I expect it to be harder this weekend,” said Ford. “We’re going to have to go into this game and look at different areas.

“I’m sure the Argentineans have been looking into their scrums and aiming to improve and we’ve been doing the same.

“But I think crucially the first Test was a very good win – especially going to Tucuman. We’d heard a lot beforehand about how it’s a hotbed of rugby and about how the crowd were going to be very hostile.

“So to win there is really quite special, away from home on a tour like this – it’s a good confidence booster for the boys going into the second Test.”
